At the end of 2018, one third of my body weight was excess and I could not walk upstairs without getting out of breathe. With my 60th birthday approaching it is time to get fit again.
Between the end of 2018 and my 60th birthday, 13th October 2019, I walked more and ate less. I could walk 8 miles and lost over two stone in weight.
On my birthday, I walked up "Old Man of Coniston", a 803 metre (2,634 feet) mountain in my favourite part of the world - the Lake District.
It had been is over thirty years since I last did this walk. This time it was pouring with rain but I had twenty friends with me.
In doing so we raised over £3,300 for the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF), via the 2025 Derbyshire Festival, a major campaign on behalf of the MCF.
Having succeeded I now want to continue to getter fitter and leaner. And I want to raise more for the MCF.
So, in the summer of 2020 I will lead a team of others on a new challenge. Watch this space for more details.
The MCF helps people make better lives by encouraging opportunity, promoting independence and improving wellbeing.
All donations made via this site will to the MCF as part of the Derbyshire 2025 Festival.
